Sharon Carr’s impact on the Travel Industry has been felt since the early 70s, when she began a lifelong friendship with Radio Hall of Fame broadcaster Ron Chapman and created the “KVIL World Tour”. For 35 years Sharon & Ron sent countless radio listeners all over the world, until Ron’s retirement, and their subsequent adoption by Jody Dean & the Morning Team in 2005, then by Miles in the Morning in 2018.
A graduate of TCU with a Music Degree, Sharon’s early life as a performer at places like Six Flags over Texas and other venues laid the foundation for her radio personality that attracted radio listeners for so long. Beginning with our first trip in 1971 (a week in Waikiki for $289!!), the KVIL World Tour, and then the KLUV World Tour, has sent thousands of travelers to all 7 continents. In 2016 we announced our 2000th trip with CBS Radio!
Sharon raised her children in the Travel Industry, and both have chosen to follow in her footsteps at Sharon Carr Travel. Daughter Kirsten Carr McCurry manages groups at Sharon Carr Travel, and son Casey Carr is the Vice President at Sharon Carr Travel.
Sharon’s reputation and industry relationships have developed over decades at the top of the Travel Industry. In 1998, Sharon was honored as the Top Travel Executive of North Texas. Over 500 people were in attendance and over $50,000 was raised for Leukemia research. Sharon was also the first female president of the Dallas SKAL Club. Sharon Carr Travel was the first small agency to charter a full cruise ship (3 times!), and the only radio feature like it in the country. Sharon Carr is a bona fide legend in the Travel Industry.
