This trip has been years in the making.  Celebrate Canada Day on July 1st in Banff National Park amazing traditions and festivities on Banff Avenue, then celebrate US Independence Day in Whitefish, Montana with more festivities!  It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience both nation’s biggest holidays in arguably their most beautiful destinations.

Ice fields, rushing waterfalls, glacial peaks, and towering summits are just a few of the wonders awaiting you in the Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park. Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s oldest, best preserved buffalo jumps. Ride aboard a Jammer (open-air touring car) during a visit to Glacier National Park. Journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway. Stop at Athabasca Glacier and choose to ride across this mass of glacier ice or take a walk on the glass bottom platform at the Columbia Icefield Skywalk. Explore Bow Falls and Surprise Corner. Visit the incomparable Lake Louise. Get ready for an adventure that brings together the expanse of the prairies, the majesty of the Canadian Rockies, and Montana’s Glacier National Park.

Day 1 | June 29, 2025 | Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Get ready for an adventure that brings together the beautiful expanse of the prairies, the soaring majesty of the Canadian Rockies and the brilliance of Montana’s Glacier National Park. Arrive today in the province of Alberta.

Day 2 | June 30, 2025 | Calgary – Banff

Relax during your journey to Banff and soak in a backdrop of wonderful wildlife and the majestic Canadian Rockies. This afternoon, arrive in Banff and enjoy stops at the powerful Bow Falls and Surprise Corner known for its picture-perfect panoramic views.  (B, D)

Day 3 | July 1, 2025 | Banff

Set out along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway and behold lofty waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Stop at the Athabasca Glacier where it’s your choice! Choose a fun ride** across this mass of glacial ice nearly 1,000 feet thick, the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle -OR- take a walk onto a glass bottom platform at the Columbia Icefield Skywalk to experience the breathtaking views of the Sunwapta Valley and witness the dramatic landscape. This afternoon, stop at stunning Peyto Lake, a glacier-fed lake that evokes pure serenity. Be on the lookout for bears and stately elk on your return to Banff.  This evening, enjoy leisure time to celebrate Canada Day with festivities on Banff Avenue! (B)

Day 4 | July 2, 2025 | Banff – Waterton

This morning, journey south to the prairie lands while enjoying the distant views of the spectacular Rockies. Visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world’s oldest, best preserved buffalo jumps. Head-Smashed-In, in the foothills of the Rockies, has been used continuously by Aboriginal people for over 5,500 years. A Blackfoot guide brings to life the culture of the Plains people, the Buffalo Hunt, and the many secrets uncovered in archaeological digs. Continue traveling south to Waterton Lakes National Park. En route, pass through quaint villages and travel along roads sometimes traversed by grizzly bears, black bears, mountain goats, cougars, wolves, moose and elk. You’ll even get to view and photograph the famous Prince of Wales Hotel. Tonight, enjoy dinner overlooking Waterton Lake. (B, D)

Day 5 | July 3, 2025 | Waterton Lakes – Whitefish

Today, experience Glacier National Park, a naturalist’s paradise. Glacier preserves over one million acres of forests, Alpine meadows, and lakes, and is home to over 70 species of mammals and 270 species of birds. Enjoy a ride aboard one of its famous Jammer cars – built in the 1930s – along one of the most breathtaking roads in North America. Going-to-the-Sun Road* stretches across the Continental Divide and offers incredible views of the valley and Glacier National Park. This afternoon, you’ll be leaving Waterton Lakes and trekking toward the resort town of Whitefish, Montana. With hundreds of miles of open road, there are plenty of surprises to uncover along the way. This evening, take some time to settle into your lodge and have dinner on your own. (B)

Day 6 | July 4, 2025 |Whitefish

Enjoy some leisure time and celebrate US Independence Day in the quaint, picturesque town of Whitefish. Always listed as one of America’s 25 prettiest towns, indulge yourself with time to stroll around, do some shopping, or just relax. Perhaps you’ll stop for lunch at one of the great restaurants found along Central Avenue or buy some huckleberry jam from a local shop. A true favorite in Montana, huckleberries can be found in snacks, drinks, candy, and more. (B)

Day 7 | July 5, 2025 | Whitefish – Calgary

This morning, we cross the Canadian Boarder once more as we make our way to Calgary. This afternoon we will stop for lunch and enjoy line dancing lessons and wagon rides. Our day concludes as we arrive back in Calgary where you will have the remainder of the evening to yourself. (B, L)

Day 8 | July 6, 2025 | Calgary – Tour Ends

Your adventure comes to a close today, leaving you with a wealth of memories from your outstanding journey to two of the world’s most beautiful areas: the incomparable Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park. (B)

INSURANCEInsurance is highly recommended.  Please contact Sharon Carr Travel for a quote.  SCT can book the insurance for you after your trip deposit is made.  Please note “cancel anytime” insurance must be done at the same time as the deposit.  It does have restrictions and only repays 80% of the trip cost.  Insurance does not cover a pandemic.

The overall activity level of this tour is a level 2. This means you like a balanced approach to travel. Walking two to three miles over the course of a day is no problem for you. You can partake in a two-hour leisurely walking tour, covering up to two miles (with included breaks). You can handle a variety of terrains, from cobblestone streets to moderate hills with relative ease and without assistance. You can climb two flights of stairs with ease. There may be 1 to 2 days on this tour when walking tours can cover 3 to 4 miles over uneven terrain. Expect some full days balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. You can handle altitudes up to 6,000 feet. While this level is appropriate for travelers that require mobility assistance devices, there could be times when you may have to sit out on some of the included activities.
If you require any special assistance while on tour, please make us aware at time of reservation so the necessary request form can be sent to your attention.
Maximum elevation: 7,500 feet/2,286 meters.

Personal audio devices (headsets) are not included on this tour.

*Some attractions, including Going-to-the-Sun Road, may not be available during the “off-season” months due to weather and typically opens the first week of July. Please note this is an all-day excursion and lunch is not included, but there will be time for a break and lunch may be purchased during one of the stops.

**Glacier Experience is weather permitting throughout the travel season.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at pre-scheduled times.

Please be advised baggage fees may apply on most trans-border flights. These fees are levied by each specific airline and may be subject to change.
